Drake and Kanye’s Drama

Last month a lot of people were interested in the drama between Drake and Kanye West. If you don’t know what I’m talking about then let me explain. Everyone was talking about it for about a week. Especially teens. Who do you think is better? Who do you think is in the wrong?

It all started in May 2009. Drake and Kanye, we’re friends. Drake considered Kanye West the most influential person as far as a musician that he’d ever ever met in his life. They had no issue until early 2010 when Kanye co-written and co-produced a track with Drake called ‘Find your love’. It was a scrap track from Kanye’s ‘808’s And Heartbreaks’ . At first, he was fine until he shifted his attitude because Drake “got too big”. In late September, Drake was seen with Amber Rose 2 months after she and Kanye broke up. Now that’s just a messed up thing to do to someone who you consider a friend. Drake’s sample verse was then cut from the final version of Kanye’s ‘All the lights’ album.

In October 2011 after everything calmed down, Drake explained, “When I was a kid trying to figure out what I liked, it was Ye who I related to the most”. He also added “He was an artist, in every sense, from his cover art to his music. Now, I would say, he is a really great [pause] competitor… and friend, at the same time… My goal is to surpass everything he’s accomplished. I don’t want to be as good as Kanye, I want to be better.”

After 2 years, Kanye as Drake, we’re on better terms. Drake said he and Kanye haven’t spoken “in so long and all this stuff got built up”. At Rolling Stone, Drake cited  “Kanye’s ‘I’m in it’ has some real questionable bars. Like that ‘Swaghili’ line? Come on man, even Fabolous wouldn’t say some sh*t like that.” Kanye then responded by saying “Rolling Stone always be trying to put ni***s against each other.” He announced: “ We love every motherf***er that put their heart into this motherf***ing music”.

A year later, Kanye was clarifying how he was planning on a collaboration with Drake on an album. “It might happen,“But he’s probably gonna be mad that I mentioned it on your show.”

In early 2016 Drake released ‘summer sixteen’. A verse that was in the song is “Now I got a house in LA, now I got a bigger pool than Ye. And look man, Ye’s pool is nice, mine’s just bigger’s what I’m saying”. Kanye replied by saying he has three pools. Later on West’s ‘Wolves’ emerged online with Drake on it. The official version dropped with Vic Mensa replacing Drake. A month later, Drake got his revenge. He released a version of ‘Pop Style’ featuring Kanye and Jay-Z and later removed their verses. Drake then calls Yeezy “one of my favorite people”.

Starting 2017, Drake discussed Ye’s comments saying he wasn’t “really sure what he’s referring to half of the time because, in the same breath, I went from being, like working on a project with him, to him sorta publicly sh***ing on me and DJ Khaled for being on the radio too much. I’m not sure why we’re the target of your choice that you made that night. And yeah, I accept what you’re going through, and I just go and continue working on my own thing”.

For a year things were calm again, then Pusha T got involved in the drama again. On Drake’s ‘Duppy Freestyle’, he responded to claims that he used ghostwriters by saying he had actually ghostwritten for Kanye. He also accused Ye of holding Virgil Abloh back. Pusha T revealed Drake had a secret son on ‘The story of Adidon’. Kanye released ‘No Mistakes’ on his ‘Ye’ album which had many lines about Drake. “Calm down you light skin”. ‘The Story of Adidon’ also featured lines about Drake’s skin color. “Always felt you weren’t black enough”. A month later Drake admitted he has a secret son on his track ‘March 14’. Then, Kanye denied telling Pusha T about Drake’s secret son. West then said “ I’m Ye, I got major things to do other than be telling him some information about Drake,” in an interview. He then added,” People be around your family and be in your house and this and that then, they get mad about a beat and send purple demon emojis. I don’t play like that, I don’t play in that place… It’s like, look, it ain’t no beef”. Drake responded with an Instagram post with a polaroid of him with ”THE BOY 6666666666” written on it and a purple demon and laughing emoji for the caption.

In late 2018, a leaked unreleased collaboration with Drake and French Montana went around the internet.  He then mentioned Yeezy’s 350 shoes in the song “Keeping it G, I told her don’t wear no 350s around me”. Kanye tweeted after a screenshot of a text message revealing Drake had “sent in a clearance request for ‘Say What’s Real’,” his 2009 reworking of the ‘808s And Heartbreaks’ track ‘Say You Will’. “This proves shit faker than wrestling,” he wrote. Kanye tells Drake he “Still needs that apology for mentioning the 350s and trying to take food out of your idols kids’ mouths”.

Recently, Kanye has leaked Drake’s address and removed him from his newest album ‘Donda’ including Soulja Boy and Chris Brown. Additionally, Drake has leaked a petty Kanye diss track while Andre 3000 is trying to avoid backlash because of Kanye. It’s been 12 years since their drama started and they still can’t stop fighting.
