New 2021 Movies: Reviews

Jungle Cruise:

The film Jungle Cruise is from old-age nautical tales based on Disney’s amusement theme park and for this to have made a successful franchise was unexpected. The movie features Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, in which Dwayne plays the riverboat captain Frank, and both Dwayne and Emily star as adventurers. Lily Houghton (Emily Blunt) hires Frank to accompany her and her brother McGregor (Jack Whitehall) down an amazon in quest of a legendary tree that holds the power to heal anything. In hopes of finding this tree, she wishes to help people with its healing abilities.

The group faces violence, which seems to be their biggest encounter, along with magical weapons, malicious villains, one of them being (Edgar Ramirez), intimidating snakes, and other dangers, including death. The wicked German prince (Jesse Plemons) is also on the lookout for the tree, as is a troop of Spanish conquistadors who want the flower’s petals to break their eternal curse.

After going on a perilous and high risk adventure, Lily and Frank find themselves with a much stronger bond than before, where they often quarreled over their different ideas Further throughout the film, certain scenes convey that Lily and Frank have grown close enough to become a incredible dynamic force, syncing energies as the plot requires, but still keeping that fun and humorous bickering. This surprising pair of eventual lovers utilizes their differing methods to go about and survive the mess they’re in. It’s not just mindless entertainment, but it’s also full of surprises that will keep viewers glued to the screen.

The writing is also impressive since the key characters’ backstories have been well produced. It also addresses several elements that are pertinent to their age while challenging contemporary conventions as well as stimulating your imagination while also arousing a great sense of humor through the fit of laughter. Jungle Cruise was a fantastic film that was deemed to be a heartwarming and classy Disney film that many people know and love while still having the action-adventure and suspense of a thriller. However, it can be noted that the movie was a little far-fetched at points. The basic storyline of the movie was absolutely obstructive, awkward, and resembled a disoriented thought process more than a story. Other than that any genuine criticisms are minor and easily avoided.

Overall it was a fun movie; it wasn’t flawless but to be completely fair, it accomplished its goal of engaging its audience. With more thought and effort put into the making of this movie, it really could have been something special. Again its entertainment can’t and won’t be taken for granted and it could be agreed that the overall vision of the film was quite astonishing. Overall the rate for this movie deserves a solid 7.5/10. Wasn’t necessarily jaw-dropping but not so awful either. For the expectation set of a Disney movie, it is understandable to say it was disappointing.

Don’t Breathe 2:

Rolling in with the 2021 new horror film “Don’t Breathe 2”, taking place years after the making of the first one “Don’t Breathe”. The anticipated film kicks off with an orphaned girl named Phoenix (Madelyn Grace) daughter of Norman (Stephan Lang) who has a strong desire to live a regular life, meet friends, and go to school. While Phoenix is followed back to her home, the surprises that follow range from compelling to absurd, transforming a fairly typical home invasion thriller into something crazier and darker.

Norman is a blind former soldier. Regarding his terrible acts, Norman feels perplexed and disheartened, this is something Stephan should be credited for because it doesn’t come from the original narrative. While portraying a blind character as bright and capable is admirable, Norman appears to have characteristics of a grim being – his blindness is used more toward the plot of the film than a true depiction of disability.

Overall, this film wasn’t awful but caused confusion amongst those who saw the first movie because they totally modified the personality of most people’s favorite character which is known to be Norman. In the original, he was depicted as pure evil. However, in its second film, he’s portrayed as a hero. The movie acts as if the first one never took place. They neglect to address the lady he held hostage in the first film, sexual abuse, and the murders of children. Norman isn’t given a redemption journey but instead, he is miraculously transformed into a better guy. Fans of the genre will likely enjoy this film due to its competent production, strong suspense, and stunning sequences with emotional complexity.

Others could find this movie to be disappointing and totally off from how the storyline was originally represented. This film entirely ignores what made the first so memorable. However there are some pros, including the fact that it was pretty well organized and performed. This movie had quite a bit of anticipation, but it fell short of becoming a solid remake and a phenomenal film overall.

It isn’t necessarily a disaster, but it isn’t a great film either. A reasonable rate for this film could be a solid 6/10. The thrill and amazing suspense are what made the movie watchable and in some ways decent.
