Pedestrian Killed in Early Saturday Crash Near 110 Freeway Offramp in Downtown Los Angeles, With One Person Arrested at the Scene

LOS ANGELES, CA — A pedestrian was killed early Saturday morning after being hit by a vehicle near an offramp of the 110 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles. Another person was taken to a hospital after the crash, which was reported just after 4 a.m. near West 8th Place and Garland Avenue.

Fire crews find fatal scene

The Los Angeles Fire Department said emergency personnel arrived to find one person dead at the scene and another person needing medical transport. Department spokesperson Lyndsey Lantz said crews responded to the call shortly after the collision was reported.

CHP keeps lanes closed

California Highway Patrol officers stayed on scene through the morning as investigators worked the area. All lanes were reopened just after 9 a.m., according to authorities.

One arrest after crash

CHP said one person was arrested, though charges were not listed by Saturday afternoon. A dispatcher said no additional details were available at that time.

Video shows damaged sedan

Video from OnScene.TV showed officers gathered around a black Cadillac sedan with damage to the front passenger headlight and fender. The footage also showed officers near a gray pop-up canopy placed partly in the road, but it was not clear Saturday morning whether anyone was inside.
