Southern California Crime Sweep Leads to More Than 70 Arrests, 66 Guns Seized Across San Bernardino County and Nearby Cities

SAN BERNARDINO, CA — Investigators in Southern California arrested more than 70 people and seized dozens of firearms and nearly 6 pounds of suspected narcotics during a weeklong crime suppression effort called Operation Consequences, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said.

Authorities said the enforcement push ran from May 11 through May 17 and included search warrants and patrols in San Bernardino County and neighboring cities.

Search Warrants and Patrols

Deputies served 14 search warrants during the operation, including a focused effort in Fontana on May 15. The sheriff’s department said the sweep also reached Hesperia, Rancho Cucamonga, Bloomington, Muscoy, Rialto, San Bernardino, Riverside, Corona and Santa Clarita.

In addition, the San Bernardino Movement Against Street Hoodlums Street Enforcement Team carried out patrols in San Bernardino and nearby jurisdictions.

Arrests and Seizures

Investigators reported 39 felony arrests and 37 misdemeanor arrests, for a total of 76 people taken into custody. The department said none of those arrested has been identified publicly.

Officials also said they seized nearly 6 pounds of suspected narcotics, including suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Dozens of Firearms Recovered

During the operation, deputies recovered 66 firearms, including 30 ghost guns, according to the sheriff’s department. The agency shared photos of the seized evidence on Monday.

The gun recovery was one of the largest figures cited in the enforcement update, alongside the narcotics seizures and arrest totals.

Funding Behind Sweep

The sheriff’s department said the operation followed county funding approved by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors for countywide crime suppression efforts. Officials said the money supports added law enforcement services tied to quality-of-life concerns in the community.

The department did not provide further details on whether additional enforcement actions are planned.
