Suspect Arrested After Shots Fired Into Carson City Home Where Family Was Sleeping, Deputies Say

CARSON CITY, NV — A man has been arrested after deputies say he fired several shots into a Carson City home early Tuesday while a family, including children, was asleep inside. The shooting was reported just after 4:30 a.m. on Kingsley Lane, according to Carson City authorities.

Suspect found in Gardnerville

Deputies say they located the suspect, identified as Zachary Leo Vereschagin, in Gardnerville with help from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. He was taken into custody and transported to the Carson City Detention Center.

Multiple felony charges filed

Vereschagin is being held on $250,000 bond, according to officials. The listed charges include discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse, neglect or endangerment, convicted person in possession of a firearm, reckless endangerment and aggravated stalking.

Investigation into shooting

Authorities did not say in the report what led up to the shooting or whether anyone inside the home was hurt. The case remains under investigation by Carson City deputies.
