Anonymous Tips Help Southern Arizona Agencies Make 83 Arrests, Recover Drugs, Guns and Stolen Property Through 88-Crime

Dean Andujar July 23, 2026 Article

TUCSON, AZ — Anonymous tips from the public helped Southern Arizona law enforcement agencies make 83 arrests over the program’s fiscal year, according to 88-Crime. Investigators also closed 104 cases and recovered $38,040 in stolen property, $40,165 in illegal drugs and nine firearms.

Rewards and recoveries

88-Crime said it paid out $55,600 in rewards to tipsters during the fiscal year. Officials said all of the reward money came from private donations, not public funds.

The cases included 30 fugitive investigations involving people wanted for offenses such as homicide, aggravated assault, firearms violations and human smuggling. Tips also helped resolve two homicides, one sexual assault and one hit-and-run, the program said.

How the tip line works

88-Crime is a nonprofit that lets people report suspected criminal activity anonymously. The program works with local law enforcement agencies and the Pima County Attorney’s Office across Southern Arizona.

People can send anonymous information by calling 520-882-7463, visiting 88crime.org or using the P3 Tips mobile app. Program Coordinator James Allerton said the results show the impact community members can have on public safety and case closures.
