As the holidays approach, celebrate early with some of the holiday charity events, hosted by various organizations on campus!
ALIVE, North’s Christian club, is selling holiday candy grams for $1 each; cute cards that come with candy you can send to a student or teacher to show your appreciation. Grams will be sold from November 15 to December 8 at the North student store. Cards feature high-quality, original art specially designed by ALIVE for the grams. “All designs are hand-drawn by students,” says ALIVE secretary, Ava Beltran. Simply pick a design you would like, and write the name of the person you would like to give the card to and their 5th-period class.
ALIVE will also be sending the grams to members of the school staff, including the lunch ladies, custodians, compass supervisors, office staff, and counselors. Senior Wendy Jiang, vice president of ALIVE, says they want to show their support and appreciation for members of our school staff who tend to be underlooked.
All Holiday Grams will be delivered to recipients’ 5th-period classes on Friday, 12/8. Feel free to buy some for your friends and teachers to spread the holiday spirit while supporting a good cause!
It’s time to segway into the best holiday joke of all time. Where do you find chili beans? At the North Pole… And also at our holiday canned food drive, sponsored by USL. Please bring in non-perishable food items, such as canned goods, bottled water, and instant cup ramen, into your 4th-period classes. The drive will conclude on Thursday, December 7, and the class with the highest contribution will receive a reward. Food items will be donated to the Community Settlement Association of Riverside, a local organization that hosts a variety of programs in the community such as food pantry services which provide over 47, 000 meals to the Riverside community annually (CSA Riverside). Our donations will be going to their holiday dinner program and food bank. All donations are greatly appreciated and will be helping a lot of families during the holiday season.
Get into the holiday spirit and celebrate the spirit of giving by participating in school events this week!
