Tryouts and Results
With a new school year starting, sports are back in season. Here is a list of teams currently holding tryouts, accomplishments made from our sports teams, and upcoming games for the month of October.
Team tryouts include boys’ and girls’ tennis on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 3 to 4 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. Boys’ water polo tryouts are held after school at the pool. Physicals are required to try out for a team.
The football team went undefeated throughout their preseason. Their first game against Grand Terrace ended in a 35-8 score. Their first home game was on August 26 against Long Beach Jordan, where our Huskies made a powerful statement with a final score of 34-6. The Huskies’ second home game on September 3 against Notre Dame ended with a crushing victory of 49-0. The North versus Summit game on September 10 concluded with yet another win 26-6. The Huskies won their fifth game in a row on September 17 as they scored 34-7 against Los Altos. After six weeks of dominating the competition, our Huskies are currently undefeated with a record of 5-0.
The boys’ varsity water polo lost their first game on August 24 against Ramona 6-17. The game on September 1 against La Sierra earned the boys water polo their first win as they finished the game with a score of 9-6. North lost their game against Rancho Cucamonga 3-16 on September 3 and again to Yucaipa on September 4, with a score of 2-15.
The girls’ varsity tennis team participated in an Etiwanda Tournament from August 25 to August 28 and concluded with 2 wins and 2 losses. North successfully beat Ramona on August 31 with a score of 11-7. North competed against Patriot on September 3, which ended with North beating Patriot with a score of 12-6. Their first league game was against Canyon Springs on September 21, which resulted in a victory for our Huskies and a score of 13-5.
Girls’ varsity volleyball participated in a tournament on August 14 and ended the day with 3 wins and 2 losses. North played their first individual game against Ramona and won 3-1 on August 17. North lost against Valley View with a final score of 0-3 on August 24 and again to Cajon, with an end result of 0-3, the day after. The team won their next two games against Jurupa Valley with a score of 3-1 on August 31 and Arlington, scoring three points as opposed to the Lions’ 2 on September 1. Their wins were followed by two losses versus Vista del Lago, ending with a score of 1-3 on September 8 and Heritage, concluding with a final score of 0-3 on September 10. Girls’ volleyball had their first league game against Temescal Canyon but lost 1-3.
Girls’ golf team played their first match on September 7 against Arlington and won by forfeit. In their second match, they played Lakeside on September 16 and won 313-357. In their match against Rancho Verde, our Huskies emerged victorious, beating Rancho 326-354 on September 21.
