Fatal Crash in Fontana Sends Black Honda Under Semi-Truck Trailer at San Bernardino Avenue and Redwood Avenue
Dean Andujar July 17, 2026 ArticleFONTANA, CA — A deadly collision involving a black Honda Accord and a semi-truck shut down part of Fontana early Wednesday morning after the car ended up underneath the trailer. The crash happened July 15 at about 5:13 a.m. at San Bernardino Avenue and Redwood Avenue, and at least one person died.
Crash Scene Blocked
Authorities said all lanes were blocked just east of Cherry Avenue after the Honda became wedged beneath the white trailer. Fire crews and police responded to the intersection while rescuers worked to reach the occupants inside the car.
The Honda was reportedly completely under the trailer, which slowed the response and kept the scene closed as crews handled the aftermath.
Victim Not Identified
The person who died had not been publicly identified as of the report. Officials also had not released details on how many people were inside the Honda at the time of the crash.
The San Bernardino County Coroner was notified by 5:45 a.m. as the investigation moved forward.
Roads Closed For Work
To support the investigation and recovery effort, authorities closed the area from Redwood Avenue to Live Oak Avenue. Tow trucks were requested to remove both vehicles as evidence.
The closure affected traffic in the area while investigators documented the scene and cleared the roadway.
Investigation Continues
Police are still examining what led up to the crash. They are asking witnesses or anyone with information to contact investigators.
No further details had been released about the cause of the collision or the condition of the semi-truck driver.
