How the crash happened
The CHP said it got reports just before 12:20 a.m. Friday that a vehicle had gone off the 18th Street overpass between the Potrero Hill and Dogpatch neighborhoods. The car crashed down onto the freeway below, where it became fully engulfed in flames.
Responding crews found damage to the overpass guardrail and the burned vehicle on the roadway.
Fire crews and medics respond
The San Francisco Fire Department said four additional patients were being transported as of Friday morning. Officials did not immediately release details on the victims’ conditions or identify those involved.
