Justin Roiland, creator of the popular sitcom Rick and Morty has undergone serious backlash from fans after Domestic Violence charges became published, the anonymous woman he had relations with that filed these reports occurred around January 19th, 2020. Since then, more allegations from many other women have come out tarnishing his reputation and leading to his disassociation from Adult Swim and Hulu. Adult Swim has also mentioned that the voices for the titular characters Rick and Morty will be recast for the show’s foreseeable future.

“Originally when I heard about the allegations, they devastated me. As I researched this case further, it revealed lots of things I had never known about Justin” says Senior Julio Espinosa.

Roland is charged with Domestic Battery, Corporal Injury, False Imprisonment by menace, Fraud, Violence, and possibly Deceit. If these alleged charges are found guilty, he could be facing upwards of 7 years in prison and possibly more due to recent allegations on social media with claims of predatory behavior towards minors.

“Rick and Morty’s voices were so iconic and now that they are being recast by Adult Swim, it’ll be strange to hear them under new voice actors” explains Senior David Sierra. The initial reports of the crimes were filed to Orange County District in May 2020. Rioland’s attorney, T. Edward Welbourn commented on the case stating “To be clear, not only is Justin innocent but we also have every expectation that this matter is on course to be dismissed once the District Attorney’s office has completed its methodical review of the evidence,” with an interview from Brad Lang, a journalist for CBR.

“Hearing Sean Kelly’s impression of the titular characters makes me hope that he is the one cast as the new voice actors for both Rick and Morty” Senior, Espinoza further describes.

Since then, Adult Swim has decided to recast voice actors for Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith for the show’s seventh season expected to air later this year. Others have begun speculating who will be cast to replace Justin, guesses range from Patrick Warburton from The Emperor’s New Groove to Christopher Lloyd from the Back To The Future franchise. Fans on Tik Tok have been actively rallying together to get Tik Tok impressionist Sean Kelly cast on the show as Rick and Morty for the seventh season.

“I foresee Rick and Morty’s future to be a rocky one with the definite leave of Justin Roiland, the show, and its plot will most likely undergo a massive change” Senior Sierra states.

Only time will tell what the future holds for Rick and Morty’s future, with the loss of the iconic voices of Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith. No matter what happens Adult Swim has promised via the Ofiical Rick and Morty Twitter account to continue the show’s seventh season with new voice actors without Roiland.
