New Superintendent: Renee Hill

At the Feb. 4 Riverside Unified School District(RUSD) Board Meeting Renee Hill was unanimously appointed by the Board of Trustees as the next superintendent of the school district. Hill currently serves as the Chief Academic Officer and has worked with the district for 28 years. She began as an elementary school teacher and later served in multiple positions in the district leadership including assistant principal. The new superintendent has a Masters Degree from Stanford in Business and a second Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of California Riverside.

“In every role I have done my best to be mindful of these essential questions: What do our students need so that they can learn and grow to meet their own unique potential and how do we address the well-being of everyone in the organization so that we can be our best in order to give our best? I promise to maintain this focus as superintendent. Education is my life’s work and this district is my home,” Hill said to the Board of Trustees.

This came after current superintendent David Hansen announced his retirement on Jan. 21. In his letter to RUSD families and employees Hansen cited a desire to spend time with his children and grandchildren as his reason for retirement. Hansen held this position for seven years and his final day will be July 1when Hill will step in as the new superintendent.
